Dennis Erb Eyes DTWC at Lawrenceburg Following Second Straight UMP Nationals Win!

2009-10-15

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, of Carpentersville, Illinois, recently conquered the 'UMP DIRTcar Nationals' for the second straight year, as he drove his new Barry Wright racecar to victory lane at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on Saturday night, October 10. Dennis laid down the second fastest lap in his group during time trials and later won his heat race at the "Big E."

After starting fourth on the grid in the 40-lap main event, Dennis grabbed the top spot on the seventh circuit and never looked back en route to the $5,000 triumph. In addition to his 'UMP DIRTcar Nationals' win over Frank Heckenast, Jr., Chad Ruhlman, Rusty Schlenk, and Matt Miller, Dennis also claimed the checkered flag in the Race of Champions, which featured the top UMP DIRTcar Series standouts. You can view complete results from Eldora by visiting www.eldoraspeedway.com.

"Our new Barry Wright car rolled around Eldora pretty good," exclaimed Erb this week via telephone. "The track was pretty choppy, so I just tried to glide over all of those bumps. It feels good to have won the UMP finale two straight years now at Eldora. Hopefully, it will give us a little momentum heading into the Dirt Track World Championship weekend!"

The #28 team is currently readying their equipment for one of the biggest and most prestigious Dirt Late Model races in the country. The 29th Annual 'Dirt Track World Championship' will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 17–18 at the refurbished Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Qualifying and heat race action will take place at the 3/8-mile, high-banked complex on Saturday, while the last chance races and the $50,000 to win, 100–lap main event will be held on Sunday.
