NEW Brinn Pro 2.0 Transmission!
The original Brinn transmission revolutionized circle track racing when it was introduced nearly a decade and a half ago. Five years ago an entirely new Brinn transmission, the Pro-Series, was developed. That new transmission was as big a step forward in technology as the original version was when it was introduced. In the Pro-Series transmission the clutch had been moved to the input shaft. For 2007 Brinn has advanced the art of circle track transmissions yet again with the introduction of their latest generation transmission, the Pro 2.0.

The Pro 2.0 is offered with a conventional starter mounting position only while Pro-Series transmissions are available in two versions. The compact exterior dimensions of the Pro 2.0 transmission allow it to be installed and packaged in a smaller space than any other Brinn transmission.

In the Pro-Series one model accepts any conventional racing-style starter while the other, more revolutionary model, requires a sealed starter that is mounted on the transmission extension housing. Mounting the starter in that position offers two distinct advantages. First, the starter and starter gear weight are moved 18 inches rearward. Secondly, the weight of the starter ring gear is removed from the flywheel. Any reduction in rotating weight is always beneficial.

At only 11 pounds the Brinn Pro 2.0 and Brinn Pro-Series transmissions feature the lowest rotating weight of any transmission. Even better, that weight is concentrated in an overall diameter of less than 2.75 inches which reduces inertia. The diameter of a weight is much more critical to overcoming inertia than the total weight itself. Effectively that means that it, and you, can accelerate and decelerate quicker. In high gear the only rotating components are the input and output shafts, the direct drive and reverse couplers and the clutch drive discs.

This revolutionary new concept allows the greatest reliability ever. Since none of the gear-train turns during operation there is little to fail. Additionally all gears have dog rings for easy shifting. The transmission case is a well-ribbed magnesium unit that offers the maximum in strength and reliability. Best of all, the distance from the center of the main shaft to the bottom of the case is only 4.25 inches. This is the most ground clearance of any transmission.

Another important feature of the Pro 2.0 and Pro-Series transmissions is the integral hydraulic clutch. This unit, which includes the input shaft, clutch assembly and throwout bearing, is simple and quick to install and remove. It mounts to the front of the transmission and can be quickly unbolted by removing only three bolts. Just one snap ring needs to be pulled for disassembly, meaning that clutch service and/or replacement is easy. Inside the clutch drum are five drive and five driven clutch plates. A needle bearing assembly ensures that the clutch drum is well supported and in alignment thus guaranteeing low-drag and a positive clutch release.

The Brinn Pro 2.0 and Pro-Series transmissions have the same overall length as a Muncie or Borg-Warner transmission. Additionally, they can be used with any Brinn or Chevrolet bellhousing.
